Visa for NZREX

Most of us, being IMGs, will require a visa to enter New Zealand.

Check to see if you need a visa

If you plan to go to NZ for NZREX then you most likely would need a Visitor's Visa.

Its not as difficult to get a NZ visa as long as you have a genuine reason and the NZREX is quite a good reason to apply.

Things that you may need for your visa application:
1. Passport
2. Photographs
3. Funds ($1000 per person for each month you plan to stay)
4. Proof that you plan to leave NZ (return ticket)
5. NZREX acceptance letter

There is no interview process for a NZ visa. However, once your application is assigned a Immigration Officer, he/she may call/email you and ask for clarification or ask for any more documents if required.

Here is a breakdown of the entire visa process (may differ in some countries)

You'll be assigned an Immigration Officer who will handle your application

Visitors visa can be valid for anywhere from 1 month to 6 months (this will be stated on your visa). Sometimes a multiple entry visa is issued. Sometimes even though you get a 3 months visa, you can only stay in NZ for 1 month at a stretch. So if you have a 1 month observership, make sure you mention that on your application!

The process can take from 7 days to 1 month or more. Your application is usually sent to the nearest INZ office which may or may not be in your country. You can visit INZ website for your country to find out the average visa processing times for your country.

Note: You can do an Observership on a Visitors Visa.
